The Cost that I was Billed for 3D Mammograms and Ultrasound was $1,900

I went in for an annual preventative 3D Mammogram. Unfortunately, the imaging showed an architectural distortion that was tough to see because my breasts are so dense. I went in for a second 3D Mammogram and ultrasound for a closer look.  The amount billed to my insurance for two 3D Mammograms and then one ultrasound on the right side was $1,900, but the price was negotiated down to $554 by my insurance. I then paid $21 out of pocket. I had to pay part of the bill for my second visit because it was considered diagnostic instead of preventative. The preventative 100% coverage is only provided once per year, so my next one within this year will require me to pay more. I have no idea if prices vary by location, but this was my experience with an in network facility.

I am not a medical professional. I have no medical training. Prices probably vary by location, doctor, personal medical situation, amount of time that the doctor spends with you, and other factors. This is just my one experience that I am sharing in case it is helpful for when you call to ask questions for an appointment.
