DIY Removable Labels for Storage Containers Using Velcro Sticky Backs (General Purpose Stick Ons)
Supplies
- Velcro brand Stick Backs (32 squares)
- Paper (to print the labels from your computer)
- Scissors (to cut the paper labels after you print them)
- Optional: Laminator and supplies to laminate paper
Directions
- Use a free QR code generator to generate codes that contain a list of the items in your storage container.
- Print the code with a shorter/high level list of items in the box. The short list gives you a high level idea of what is in the storage container, but when you scan the QR code, it will provide you with a longer and more detailed list of contents that you created!
- Use the Velcro Stick Backs to adhere the labels! It's easy-peasy!
The nice thing about this project is that it's easy to remove a label and replace it with a new one without any "buildup" on your storage container. For instance, my husband used to use a marker to label storage containers, but then he would scratch things out and update the list when the contents changed. It didn't look very nice. Then we printed on sticker labels. We would apply a new sticker label over an old one when the contents changed. Again, this didn't look very nice over time. The Velcro solution is awesome because we are able to swap the labels with such ease!
The Velcro Sticky Back product that we featured in this post is great for a variety of projects. If you want to try them out, here is a link to the product:
