Spring break is here! I know that many people across the country changed their travel plans due to concerns about Coronavirus. Since many people are spending extra time at home, I thought that I would feature some fun local activities throughout the week. In today's post, my suggestion is to have a movie marathon with a delicious take-out order from a nice restaurant.
Here is our quick Movie Marathon Setup Checklist:
- Movies: Let each family member select a movie or show to add to the movie marathon schedule.
- Get cozy: Pull out cozy blankets, pillows, and let everyone wear their favorite pajamas throughout the movie marathon.
- Order plenty of food: Order everyone's favorite appetizers, salad, pizza, and desserts to share. Don't skimp on the food -- everyone will have happy memories of grazing on delicious food throughout the movies!
- Optional: If your movie marathon has a theme, let your children pull out their favorite accessories. For instance, my children love Star Wars, so they wanted to watch the movies with their costumes, light sabers, and blasters.
Now that I've shared the Movie Marathon Setup Checklist, let me show you the delicious food that made our movie marathon extra special!
Our favorite restaurant food to pair with movie marathons comes from Fireside Pies! This restaurant was featured by Zagat as one of the 8 coziest restaurants and bars in Dallas-Fort Worth. They have a few locations. The Grapevine location is near our home, so it is often our go-to dining destination. Their food is perfect for a movie marathon. Personally, we each select our favorite entree and then share two appetizers and two desserts. As you see in the photo below, my little Star Wars fans were excited for a movie marathon and food from Fireside Pies. Let me share a peek into our favorite menu items!

Let's start with appetizers. The Baked Goat Cheese is one of our family's favorite items.
It's incredibly rich and flavorful. It contains goat cheese, oven-dried tomato, Kalamata olives, and basil pesto served on crostini.

Another one of our favorite menu items is the Burrata Mozzarella Crostini. You'll notice that we love creamy recipes! The Burrata Mozzarella Crostini is meant to be savored. It contains cream infused mozzarella, roasted Texas cherry tomatoes, EVOO, aged Balsamic, and sea salt.
We each selected one entree and then shared them family-style. I chose the Baby Arugla Salad. (This is also my husband's favorite salad!)
This salad is flavorful with delicious ingredients and a Balsamic mustard vinaigrette. It includes arugula, blue cheese, pepperoni, pinon nuts, black olives, and sun-dried tomatoes. The combination of ingredients with the delicious dressing is perfect! I should also mention that the salad comes in a generous portion.

Next on our list is the iconic Triple Roni Pizza. This is not "just another" pepperoni pizza. This pizza stands out with a recipe that uses truffle oil. We've never experienced anything else close to this amazing pizza. I am convinced that the chefs at Fireside Pies are perfectionists that pay attention to every detail. They figured out the exact ratio of truffle oil, pepperoni, mozzarella, basil, and sauce for a perfect pizza.
My youngest son requested the Neapolitan Pizza. He loves good quality basics, so the combination of premium diced tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil rocks his little world!
My husband chose to Customize a Pizza with our family's favorite toppings with Pepperoni and Ricotta. It's a fabulous combination that we all love!
Fireside Pies offers generously sized desserts, so we couldn't resist ordering two for the four of us to share. The first dessert that we tried is the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake.
This incredibly creamy cheesecake includes a blackberry swirl and "Nilla" wafer crust.

We also shared my favorite dessert - the Warm Cocoa Brownie with vanilla bean ice cream, sea-salted caramel, and hazelnuts. This is a decadent dessert that we highly recommend for a memorable movie marathon.
We hope that our post inspires you to enjoy a movie marathon with your family soon. Our family has happy memories of spending time together with entertainment, laughter, and plenty of delicious food!
