Check out Three of our Favorite Preschooler Books from Scholastic!

Almost every school in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro is closed for two weeks. I know that it's hard to entertain preschoolers during every waking moment without a break, so I thought that I would share three books that rock my preschooler's little world. These books have entertained him for hours. We've read them together. He has "read" them on his own. They are must-have books!  The books are published by Scholastic and include:

  • Slide & Surprise in the Ocean by Natalie Marshall
  • You are a Gift to Me! by Sandra Magsamen
  • My Daddy and Me by Linda Ashman and illustrated by Jane Massey

Let me share a few details about each book.

Slide & Surprise in the Ocean by Natalie Marshall is the sweetest book. This book offers a colorful exploration of under water animals and habitats. My son loves learning about the ocean thanks to this book that contains adorable animals and fun facts. My preschooler loves to pull out the surprise tabs.  I won't spoil all of the surprises, but I will tell you that he giggles a lot when we read this book. After all, slide out surprises are always fun!  The book is excellent quality as you would expect from Scholastic. This is important as I'm sure that many children will want to read it hundreds of times!

My Daddy and Me by Linda Ashman and illustrated by Jane Massey is my husband's go-to book when he reads to our preschooler. The rhymes and whimsical illustrations are adorable.  I should also add that this is a durable board book with a soft padding cover.  I think that it's great quality and will hold up for years!

You are a Gift to Me! by Sandra Magsamen is another book that is sure to be a classic. You may have heard of Sandra Magsamen because she is a writer for Oprah.com and has authored many young children's books. She is the recipient of many awards for her work too. This particular book is the sweetest with a flowing rhythm and colorful animals.  While it's really a great book for any parent, grandparent, or other family member to read to a little one, my son calls it our Mommy and Me book. It's the sweetest!

I hope that you enjoyed this glimpse into some of our favorite books for preschoolers! Since most of the schools around the Dallas/Fort Worth metro are closed for at least the next two weeks, this is a great time to stock up on new books for your children.  Visit Scholastic here!
