A Southern Easter Tradition: Visit Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop in Colleyville (Curbside Pickup Available!)

In today's post, I want to connect you with Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop in Colleyville, TX.  (They also have other locations. Click here for the store finder.)  Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop offers iconic pies and cookies that are part of Souther holiday traditions.  They are well known around the Dallas/Fort Worth metro, but you may have also heard about them in Southern Living, Taste of the South, or the Cooking Channel.  Let me tell you more about their menu.

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop has you covered when it comes to southern style pies. This company was founded by a husband and wife team with deep roots in the south. Some of their recipes started with their grandmothers and were perfected over generations.   Here is a list of their pies:

• SOUTHERN CUSTARD (BUTTERMILK): Smooth, mild, and sweet, our buttermilk filling is like a cross between a chess pie and a custard.
• I-40: Pecans, chocolate chips, a sprinkle of toasted coconut, and a smooth pecan pie filling combined in a sweet shortbread crust.
• GRANNY’S APPLE: Passed down for generations, this pie harkens back to a simpler time when food was fresh, homemade, and created by someone you knew.
• CHOCOLATE CREAM: This classic favorite is filled with thick and rich chocolate custard in our signature Oreo crust, topped with lightly sweetened fresh whipped cream, and garnished with chocolate shavings.
• KEY LIME: Our house made graham cracker crust is filled with our perfectly balanced key lime filling.

Personally, we went with the Chocolate Cream Pie for Easter this year. 

This trendy pie has an incredibly rich chocolate custard with a special Oreo crust. It is topped with lightly sweetened fresh whipped cream and then garnished with chocolate shavings.

One of my favorite things about living in the south is that we are able to pick up pies from Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop for our holiday celebrations!

Personally, we love the Easter Thumbprint Cookies.  The combination of shortbread with a generous portion of sweet icing is delicious. My boys love them. They are definitely part of their happy childhood memories!

This is a strange year with Easter church services and Easter egg hunts canceled. Many of our traditions have changed, but luckily, Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop offers curbside service so that it's easy to continue our favorite dessert traditions. You are able to order your favorite traditional desserts in time for Easter. Place your order ahead of time and then just call them when you are in the parking lot. Personally, I picked up a pie and cookies today while wearing a mask. It was a strange feeling to wear a mask in public, but it turned out that I wasn't out of place at all. I went to the grocery store and then picked up the pie and cookies. I'm slowly getting used to the temporary "new normal" of curbside service for take-out orders and have to say that it was easy and convenient.
