If you are like us, your family has experienced ups and downs during the Shelter in Place order. My children miss their teachers, friends, and activities. My husband and I are suddenly their teachers for homeschooling. It has been an adjustment. During this transition, there is one thing that has helped us - good food. In today's post, I'll tell you about how Piada Italian Street Food made our day with their amazing family style meals.
If you aren't familiar with Piada Italian Street Food, let me tell you that this is one of our favorite restaurants. We visit the location in Alliance Town Center. They also have other locations. (Find the list here.) Their menu still contains all of their amazing menu items that were available before the Shelter in Place order, but they also have Family Meals and Take-and-Bake Meals that are perfect for quick and easy pickup!
Let me share some examples. We enjoyed the Family Salad and the Meatball Pomodoro Take-and-Bake this evening. These meals are easy to order ahead of time and to pick up at the restaurant. In our experience, the staff at Piada Italian Street Food are perfectionists who pay attention to detail. Our order was ready when my husband went to pick it up. Everything was nicely organized and the directions were easy to follow for the Take-and-Bake meal.
Here is a closer look to show what everything looked like before we baked the pasta and meatballs and arranged the salad items. Everything is nicely compartmentalized.
Let's start with the salad. The Family Salad contains a pan of greens with your favorite protein, house-made dressings, and fresh toppings so that you are able to build your own salads at home. They feed 4-6 people. Personally, we chose the following options:
- Protein: Grilled Chicken
- Dressings: Lemon Basil Dressing and Berry Balsamic
- Feta
- Chickpeas
- Pancetta
- Parmesan Crisps
- Toasted Almonds
- Tomatoes
A few of my favorite things about the salad that stand out from our typical salads is that they shred the feta and dice the extremely flavorful tomatoes into small pieces.
The roasted chickpeas add extra protein and taste delicious!
The dressings also make the salads special. The Lemon Basil Dressing and Berry Balsamic dressings are my favorites!
An example of the salad that I created is shown below. You'll notice that this colorful salad is packed with nutrients! It's a great meal at any time of the year, but especially when we are stuck at home and need to be extra mindful of eating a balanced diet. (I tend to lack variety like this in my own cooking, so it was nice to lean on Piada's Family Salad to make sure that we incorporated several healthy toppings into our salads.)
Another example salad is shown below. This was my husband's creation. The Berry Balsamic dressing adds a colorful and flavorful touch!
The Meatball Pomodoro Take-and-Bake includes a pan of penne pasta covered in sauce, a pan of meatballs, pomodoro sauce, and parmesan cheese that you bake hot in your own oven. It feeds 4-6 people.
I love how easy this was to prepare. Here is a photo of the pasta before I baked it.
Here is a photo of the meatballs. I put the sauce in the pan for this photo, but it was actually packaged separately and covered in plastic wrap to prevent it from spilling in transit.
We just poured the sauce over the meatballs and then covered the container. That was the extent of the prep work! We then placed the covered containers of pasta and meatballs in the oven at 350-degrees for approximately 45 to 60 minutes. (We baked them for 55 minutes in our convection oven.)
We pulled the pans out after 55 minutes and sprinkled them with half of the shredded Parmesan.
We then added the meatballs to the pasta and sprinkled the mixture with more delicious shredded Parmsan. It was that easy to prepare!
I hope that you enjoyed this glimpse into our amazing to-go order from Piada Italian Street Food. After being at home with my family 24/7 for weeks on end, I know the importance of delicious meals to quickly brighten everyone's day. Everyone perks up when we have special food to share together.
