5 Ways to Cook Broccoli

5 Ways to Cook Broccoli

Are you wondering how to prepare broccoli? Here are 5 simple ways to prepare broccoli.  Nothing fancy here - just easy ways to prepare broccoli by using the stove top, foil on the grill, microwave, boiling, or using a pressure cooker. We have all of the basics for preparing broccoli below.

1. Steam Broccoli on the stove top

You'll need to use a pot that has a steamer insert.

1. Fill the bottom with approximately 2" of water and add the broccoli to the steamer insert.

2. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat for approximately 4 to 5 minutes.

3. Remove and serve.

We use a Calphalon Steamer with Insert and Cover, but if you don't want to buy a new set, there are lower priced Steamer Inserts.

2. Grill your Broccoli in a Foil Pack

1. Spray a large piece of aluminum foil with cooking spray.

2. Place a single row of broccoli on the foil and fold the foil so that you have a secure foil pack such that the broccoli won't fall out when you flip it on the grill.

3. Grill over low heat for approximately 3 minutes on each side.

3. Microwave your broccoli

1. Add your broccoli to a microwave save container.

2. Add 1/4 cup of water for every one cup of broccoli.

3. Place the lid on the container so that it is slightly loose and will allow only a small amount of air to escape.

4. Microwave for 2 to 3 minutes if you have 1 cup of broccoli. Add approximately  30 seconds if you have 2 cups of broccoli.

4. Boil your broccoli

1. Fill a pot with enough water to cover the broccoli.

2. Bring water to a boil.

3. Add the broccoli and allow to come to a boil again.

4. Boil for approximately 5 minutes or until your desired texture.

5. Use a Pressure Cooker to Steam Your Broccoli

1. Add 1/2 cup of water to pressure cooker for every 2 pounds of broccoli florets.

2. Set pressure cooker to high and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
