Tips for How to Clean Vomit Out of Children's Carpet with a Baking Soda Step

Tips for How to Clean Vomit Out of Children's Carpet with a Baking Soda Step

1. Scoop up and dispose of large chunks of vomit. (I often use a spoon.)

2. Sprinkle baking soda on top of the remaining liquid vomit.  Don't skimp on the baking soda. You want it to absorb the liquid vomit. You'll notice below that the baking soda already started to absorb the liquid vomit before I could finish and take a photo.

3. After letting the baking soda sit for approximately 30 minutes, remove the larger chunks with a spoon and dispose.

You will notice that there is still a stain on the carpet at this point.

4. Vacuum remaining baking soda that soaked up the vomit.

5. Apply a carpet cleaning solution to the stain. We don't have a carpet cleaning machine, so we follow the instructions on our bottle of carpet cleaner and use a brush to clean. You may use an old toothbrush, but we bought a larger brush that is meant for dishes. The larger brush is helpful for large messes.
