The holiday break is almost here! If you are in search of movies for family movie nights, you'll want to add Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile to the top of your list! This energetic movie kept my entire family engaged! The storyline, songs, and whimsical characters held my children's attention. My husband and I also loved the movie, especially the music! In today's post, I'll tell you more about this magical movie! (Spoiler alert - you'll want to grab some mugs of hot CROC-olate and enjoy Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile with your family!)
Let's start with a quick overview:
"Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a live-action/CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.
When the Primm family (Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile (Shawn Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will feature original songs performed by Shawn Mendes and written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. Joining Pasek and Paul in writing original songs for the film are Ari Afsar, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Mark Sonnenblick, and Joriah Kwamé. Directed and produced by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the screenplay is by Will Davies. The film is produced by Hutch Parker and executive produced by Kevin K. Vafi, Dan Wilson, Robert J. Dohrmann, Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Tarak Ben Ammar and Andy Mitchell. This Sony Pictures film is currently at select theaters and will be available on Blu-ray on December 13, 2022."

In our personal experience, my family loved this energetic movie with catchy songs. It's nice that the Blu-Ray even has bonus content such as sing-alongs! You'll want to prepare mugs of hot CROC-olate for your family to watch this fun movie. I'm sure that regular hot cocoa will do the trick, but another fun tip is to mix a bit of mint extract and/or green food coloring into whipped cream as a topping. My children loved this green crocodile themed touch to their hot CROC-olate!
After the movie, we enjoyed reading some of the popular Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile books! Our children have a large age gap, so we loved that there were Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile books for their different ages! This movie release provides a great opportunity to make reading extra fun! I won't spoil too many surprises, but I will point out that they have a great picture book, early reader, and junior novel for little ones!
We hope that you take the opportunity to enjoy a fun family movie night this holiday season! Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is one of the best family friendly movies for a fun and memorable family movie night!
