The holiday season is my favorite time of year! In today's post, I'll tell you about one of the best holiday events that you'll want to visit - Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Over Texas! They have something for everyone this holiday season! The park has been transformed into a winter wonderland that provides a whimsical experience for families enjoy the beautiful lights, ride the train, shop at the holiday market, enjoy hot cocoa and s'mores, watch the incredible show at Southern Palace, write and mail letters to Santa while chatting with his friendly elves, take photos with Santa, enjoy the rides, and more! Six Flags Over Texas has generously packed the park with many rides, shows, and activities that will keep you busy and help you to create happy holiday memories. Walk down Peppermint Path, Merry Lane, and other sparkling areas to get the fun rides, shows, restaurants, and shops. I'll share some highlights from our recent visit so that you are able to see the incredible value that they pack into admission and how they make the world feel more magical!
Let's start with the basics:
- What: Six Flags Holiday in the Park
- Where: Six Flags Over Texas (Here is a Google Map.)
- When: November 19, 2022 to January 1, 2023
We visited on a Saturday and arrived around 2pm. We had plans to go straight to Santa, but were derailed because there were so many fabulous decorations, attractions, and activities along the way! For instance, the Singing Reindeer in the Blacksmith shop were so delightful that we couldn't help but stop to watch the performance!
The Singing Reindeer, Johnson's Creek Critter Corral, street performers, and hot cocoa stops made our stroll to find Santa extra magical! When we finally reached Santa and his elves, they were wonderful! We wrote our child's name on a ticket before we entered so that Santa could welcome him by name when he was ready. I think that Six Flags Over Texas has the best Santa in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro. The photographer is fantastic too. They offer a variety of photo packages for sale. Santa's jolly presence was magical to our son! If you have a shy child, the Santa at Six Flags Over Texas was especially kind and talented to make our shy little boy feel more at ease. It was a nice touch that Santa called him into the room by name and that he was patient when he noticed that our son was nervous to meet the real Santa! Our son was a man of few words. He forgot to tell him what he wanted for Christmas because he lost his words during the magical experience. It was very sweet. Luckily, Six Flags Over Texas had us covered with another lovely area to write and mail letters to Santa!
Every turn revealed new festive statues! Again, this is all included with your admission!
My favorite part of our visit was the Christmas show at Southern Palace. This dazzling show was included in admission!
After a couple of hours, the sun went down and we were able to enjoy the sparkling holiday lights! There must be millions and millions of twinkling lights throughout the park! While this may be controversial, I think that the best way to enjoy the magical lights is to take the train ride. We were able to see many different views of the park. (When my boys are older, I may join the thrill seekers in reconsidering my preference because I bet that the lights look incredible from some of the high rides!)
I'll always treasure the memories of getting hot cocoa and hopping on the train with my husband and boys! It felt wonderful to see their reactions and excitement as we rode the train!
My kids also love the Silver Star Carousel near the park entrance. The view is beautiful in the evening with the holiday lights!
We visited JB's Smokehouse Barbeque for dinner. This is our favorite restaurant at the park. I took a photo of this sign because I wanted to highlight that Six Flags paid meticulous attention to detail when it came to holiday decor. Notice that even this restaurant sign has JB with a Santa hat! The holiday decor is everywhere!
My oldest son loves the BBQ Brisket Sandwich and waffle fries! He always looks forward to this meal! He paired it with hot cocoa for the holiday season!
My youngest son loves their Kid's meal that comes with chicken nuggets, apple juice, a fruit cup, and Goldfish crackers. Both of their meals were great!
For dessert, we enjoyed S'mores! Six Flags has fire pits distributed around the park for you to purchase S'mores kits to roast. The kits are $5/each and include everything that you need to make your dessert!
My family loved these warm, rich, and gooey S'mores! I think that we'll always remember walking around the park in the cool winter air with hot cocoa and S'mores!
The Six Flags Over Texas Holiday Market also offers many shops that are stocked with festive items!
They have plenty of items to keep you festive and warm!
They have plenty of holiday stuffed animals for little ones to love!
They even have silly hats to make your kids giggle!
Of course, when you stroll through the Holiday Market, you'll enjoy thousands and thousands of sparkling lights and decor!
You may also come across the Merry Carolers as you stroll through the Holiday Market! Again, the beautiful lights, decorations, and watching the carolers is all included in your admission.
