As a family, we’re always looking for fun and engaging ways to introduce our children to different cultures, and what better way to explore Japan than through its delicious snacks? That’s why we absolutely love our Tokyo Treat subscription—it’s a fun, flavorful, and educational experience that brings a little piece of Japan right to our doorstep! If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s the time to jump in!
A Generous Box Packed with Surprises
Every Tokyo Treat box arrives stuffed with goodies, from sweet and savory snacks to unique seasonal treats. One thing we’ve especially enjoyed is that there’s often a tasty noodle dish included! My oldest son is always quick to whip up the noodles and eagerly share them with us. It’s a fun way to introduce Japanese flavors while also giving him a little kitchen confidence!
Cherry Blossom Bites: A Celebration of the Season
This month’s theme, Cherry Blossom Bites, was an absolute delight! Cherry blossoms (sakura) only bloom for a short period, serving as nature’s gentle reminder to embrace and cherish fleeting moments. Japan’s cherry blossoms are breathtaking, and the Tokyo Treat booklet highlighted some of the best places to see them, including: Ueno Park, Shinjuku Gyoen, Inokashira Park, Chidorigafuchi. Reading about these picturesque spots while indulging in cherry blossom-themed treats truly made us feel connected to Japan’s springtime traditions.
Our Favorite Treats
Every box brings new flavors and discoveries, but this month’s standout for me was, without a doubt, the Strawberry Shortcake KitKats! Coated in creamy white chocolate with bursts of tangy strawberry, they were an instant favorite. The balance of flavors was just perfect—sweet, fruity, and utterly delicious!
My youngest son’s favorite was the Sakura Petal Marshmallows, which are soft, sweet, and have a hint of sakura flavor! They are great on pancakes, desserts, and hot chocolate, but he just pops them directly! They are too good!
My oldest son’s favorite was the Sakura Blossom Cake, with the Sour Plum Salt Crackers coming in as a close second. His favorite in the Tokyo Treat is usually the noodles or ramen. The Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen was exceptionally good!
Really, everything was unique and delicious!
A Fun & Tasty Way to Learn
Exploring Japan through snacks has been such a fantastic way to teach our kids about Japanese culture and traditions. From reading the informative booklet to tasting regional flavors, it’s a full sensory experience that makes learning fun and delicious.
If you’re looking for a fun and exciting way to travel through taste, we highly recommend giving Tokyo Treat a try! The variety, quality, and cultural connection make every box a thrill to open. Order yours today! We can’t wait to see what next month’s box will bring!
