My Texas heart LOVES Six Flags Over Texas! This iconic amusement park isn’t just a place—it’s a treasure trove of excitement, adventure, and joy for the whole family. My kids and I had the most AMAZING time visiting yesterday, and I have to tell you, if you’re looking for the PERFECT Spring Break destination, this is IT! The weather was absolutely dreamy—perfectly cool with a light breeze—making it the best time to enjoy all the thrills, delicious food, and incredible entertainment that Six Flags Over Texas has to offer. In today's post, I'll share highlights from my recent visit and point you to events and deals that you won't want to miss. (Spoiler alert - Six Flags Over Texas has a big sale until Sunday for Season passes that include free parking AND season meal passes that are good year-round and just in time for Viva La Fiesta! Plus, this is the optimal time to buy season meal passes as they hired a new executive chef and have already begun rolling out new menu items with rave reviews!)

FAMILY FUN FOR EVERY AGE 

Let's start with our recent visit. One of the things I LOVE about Six Flags Over Texas is that there’s truly something for everyone. My 2nd grader had the time of his life in Bugs Bunny Boomtown—a laid-back and fun area designed just for little ones! My little thrill seeker rode the rollercoaster and Cloud Bouncer multiple times, giggling the whole way through. And let me tell you—he slept SO soundly that night. Nothing beats seeing those precious childhood memories being made and sleeping like a baby at night!

I asked my kids to rate their favorite rides in Bugs Bunny Boomtown. My teen remembered the rides from when he was a kid. My 2nd grader just experienced the rides. They put their brains together and came up with this list:

Top 5 Rides in Bugs Bunny Boom Town for Little Kids:

1. Wile E. Coyote's Grand Canyon Blaster – A fun roller coaster that's perfect for first-time thrill-seekers!

2. Taz Tornado – A spinning ride that kids absolutely love!

3. Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters – A fun water ride to cool off while having a blast!

4. Bugs Bunny Cloud Bouncer – A gentle ride that lifts kids into the sky for a fun view!

5. Speedy Gonzales’ Trucking Company – A cute truck ride perfect for the little adventurers!

There’s also a special Spring Break performance near the merry-go-round at the front entrance, featuring our favorite Looney Tunes characters in their Spring Break outfits! Their high energy and fun dance routines make it the perfect entertainment for kids to dance along and enjoy!  This runs until Sunday, so don't miss the shows!

Thrills for the Older Kids (and the Young at Heart!)

Not to be outdone, my teenager relished the chance to bond with his little brother in Boom Town but couldn't resist the allure of the park's more daring attractions. They were even able to enjoy some older kids' rides together, like the Conquistador, a massive ship that swings back and forth, giving that exhilarating stomach-drop feeling, and the Rodeo Ride, where guests sit on a spinning bull that twists in different directions!

The Dino Off Road Adventure attraction is another family-friendly ride! 

I won't spoil it, but your dino lovers are in for surprises.

1. Titan: A colossal coaster that sends you plummeting from 255 feet at speeds up to 85 mph—pure exhilaration!
2. New Texas Giant: This wooden-steel hybrid offers a smooth yet thrilling ride with breathtaking drops and twists.
3. Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast: Experience high-speed launches and inversions—all in reverse!
4. Batman: The Ride: An inverted coaster that flips and spins, making you feel like the Caped Crusader soaring through Gotham.
5. Shock Wave: A classic looping coaster that delivers timeless thrills with its double loops and airtime hills.

Six Flags Over Texas really thought of everything to create family-friendly experiences that cater to all ages. I love that my teen had special rides for him and that my 2nd grader has special rides for his age. Even better was that there were also rides outside of Bugs Bunny Boom Town for all of us to bond on together. (Yes, I may be that mom who says that each ride is too scary while my kids giggle at my reactions on rides! It's part fo the fun!)

If you plan on indulging in all the deliciousness, you have three fantastic dining pass options:

• One-Day Dining Pass – For $20.99/each + tax, you get a meal, snack, and beverage throughout your visit! Buying the pass in advance of your visit is the way to go for maximum convenience and value!

• All Day Dining Deal – In my opinion, an even BETTER deal! For $44.99/each + tax, you get to enjoy one meal every 90 minutes AND an All Day Drink Bottle for unlimited refills!

• Season Dining Pass – The ultimate value for frequent visitors! Enjoy lunch, dinner, and a snack every visit for the entire season! Plus, you get an All Season Drink Bottle for unlimited refills throughout the park. This is perfect for families who plan to visit multiple times! 

For families, these meal deals are a fantastic value and can be redeemed at restaurants throughout the park. Whether you're craving pizza, BBQ, burgers, salads, or more, you're covered! My kids love picking different restaurants, so it's awesome to have so many options. Plus, there are plenty of drink stations throughout the park for easy refills!  These are just a few of the restaurants below to your must-visit list of restaurants if you buy a season dining pass!  Really though, all of their restaurants are great!

•  JB’s BBQ – Upon entering the park, the smell of the smoked-in-house brisket, chicken and pulled pork will lead guests to the refurbished JB’s BBQ now offering delicious side dishes like smashed potatoes, mac & cheese, corn bread, healthy salads and peach cobbler. 
• All American Café – The most popular restaurant gets a major renovation to provide guests with more seating and shaded areas and an all-new menu that includes double-patty diner-style burgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders, Detroit-style pizza and milkshakes. 
• Casa de las Banderas – Opens this summer with a brand-new menu of street tacos, freshly fried tri-color tortilla chips and elote. 
•  La Cantina – Opens this spring with a new menu featuring Mexican tortas and traditional sides such as Spanish rice, pinto beans and cilantro lime crema. 
• Texas Tacos – All roads will lead to Texas Tacos where guests will find Dallas-style brisket and pork tacos, all made with fresh meat smoked in-house for the first time. 
• Etiennes – Opens this summer to delight guests with fresh beignets dusted with powdered sugar, and sweet and savory crepes. 
• Primo’s – Totally reimagined pizza stop offers New York-style pizza made with a fresh pizza crust, plus tossed-to-order Caesar salad and a new selection of cannoli.

While Primo Pizzeria is my favorite, my kids will enthusiastically argue that JB's BBQ has the best brisket sandwich and waffle fries in Texas!

NEW & IMPROVED DINING EXPERIENCE

One of the highlights of our visit was getting to sample the park’s new and improved menu! Their new executive chef is transforming the food scene with fresh ingredients, homemade dishes, and even smoked-in-house meats. 

The first rollout is at Primo's NY-Style Pizza Restaurant!

These pizzas are fabulous! I spent several years living in upstate NY and love NY-style pizza. Six Flags Over Texas has what seems like an award-winning recipe!  

Some of the must-try items include:

• Primo’s NY-Style Pizza – Hand-tossed and perfectly crisp. As someone who spent years in upstate NY, I can tell you—this is the REAL DEAL!

• Freshly Tossed Caesar Salads – Custom-made right in front of you. So fresh and flavorful!

• Stuffed-to-Order Cannoli – Watching them fill the cannoli on the spot? YES, PLEASE!

The Six Flags Over Texas Meal Passes are redeemable at Primo's! Alternative, you can score a cheese pizza for $16.99 or a pepperoni pizza for $17.99.  They also have freshly tossed Caesar salads with grilled chicken or as a side salad. 

They will fill your cannoli or chocolate-dipped cannoli when you order it! These are priced at $7.49/each.

I also have to mention that it's easy to refill your season drink cups when you visit the restaurants.  There are also some self-serve soda machines in the park. Personally, I also appreciate that Six Flags Over Texas has Coca-Color Freestyle machines in some areas of the park where I can find caffeine-free sodas for my youngest such as caffeine-free Sprite and fruity sparkling waters.

The executive chef will be rolling out updates throughout the year which is why I encourage you to buy the season dining passes. Next on the list includes Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders – These aren’t your typical frozen tenders—they’re made fresh, hand-breaded, and absolutely delicious! Their team has taste testings as they work to perfect their recipes.  

And this is JUST the beginning! More updates are rolling out throughout the year, making a Season Dining Pass even more worth it!

• Splash Island (Opening soon!) – Six Flags just invested millions of dollars into waterpark upgrades for Hurricane Harbor. A tropical paradise with water fun for all ages! This new family-friendly water play area will feature multiple slides, interactive water elements, and plenty of splash zones to cool off during the summer heat. Personally, I am most excited about the 14 new slides for elementary school aged kids. Many water parks cater to toddlers and adults, but there is a gap for kids that fall in between these ages groups.  This new opening will be the biggest water attraction in our area for little kids with a whopping 14 new water slides and more!
