If you're looking for the ultimate family experience this spring, you need to head to Viva La Fiesta at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. Running every Saturday and Sunday from April 5 through May 4, 2025, it’s more than just a theme park visit—it’s a celebration of Latin American and Caribbean culture filled with music, color, food, and energy. And if you're feeling adventurous like I was, make it a YES DAY.
For those who aren’t familiar, a YES DAY is when parents agree to say “yes” to their kids’ requests (within reason), and I gave my son one recently. I couldn’t say no—so when he asked to spend it at Six Flags for Viva La Fiesta, complete with Flash Passes and food wristbands, I had no choice but to buckle up for a full day of non-stop fun. And I’m so glad I did.
We started early, and from the moment we walked in, we were swept into a whirlwind of rides, food, entertainment... and more food. We basically rode rides, ate, rode more rides, ate more, rode again, caught a performance, and repeated that cycle until the sun went down. I couldn’t say no because it was a YES DAY!
A Celebration of Mexican Heritage and Culture
Viva La Fiesta brings the Mexico-themed section of the park to life in a big way. The entire area is filled with festive décor, live music, and dancing. Every morning kicks off with a Looney Tunes dance party that sets the tone for the day.
Throughout the park, the sound of mariachi music fills the air thanks to Mariachi Bohemio, while Ballet Folklórico dancers bring traditional Mexican storytelling to life with vibrant costumes and choreography. Chicana DJ Virah mixes Latin beats that get everyone moving.
And for one special weekend, April 12–13, there are even more incredible performances:
-
Rumbamena International Dance Company performs high-energy salsa and samba
-
Manteca Blue & The Latin Corner electrifies the stage with Latin-jazz fusion
The atmosphere is nonstop energy—full of life, sound, and movement. I couldn’t say no to any of it.
The Food Alone Is Worth the Visit
Let’s talk about the food. Six Flags Over Texas has seriously stepped it up this year, thanks to their new executive chef, Douwe Iedema. With international culinary experience (including cooking for royalty), he’s transformed the dining scene into something truly special.
We spent hours in the Mexican section of the park enjoying:
-
Tortas stuffed with shredded beef that simmers for over 12 hours
-
Roasted elotes, crispy tostones, and tricolor chips with roasted salsa
-
Spanish rice, pinto beans, and cilantro lime crema
-
Refreshing mocktails with tropical flavors like mango and coconut that kids absolutely love
Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt more like gourmet street food than theme park fare. I couldn’t say no to a second torta... or a third. And with the food and drink wristbands, we never had to stop and budget. We just enjoyed every bite.
The Rides? Let’s Just Say We Lost Count
With the Flash Passes, my son decided we were going to ride his favorite roller coaster over and over. We ended up riding it more 10 times. I couldn’t say no. We spun around in the teacups, screamed on El Sombrero, and fit in as many coasters and rides as we could between bites of food and impromptu dance breaks.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him laugh so much—or eat so many churros in one day.
Make It a Day to Remember
Viva La Fiesta is happening every weekend through May 4 at Six Flags Over Texas, located at 2201 Road to Six Flags in Arlington. It’s the biggest party of the season and the perfect way to celebrate culture, family, and fun all in one unforgettable day.
If you’re thinking of creating your own YES DAY, this is the place to do it. Because when you say yes to food, rides, music, and laughter, you’re really saying yes to memories that will last forever.
And believe me—I couldn’t say no!
